Some things are in a real sense really you, what you are and others aren't, but consequentialism ignores the distinction between my agency and other people's, as well as the relation between my actions and who I am. As such, it is unsatisfactory. Consequences matter, but it is a matter of judgement whether they take priority in any particular case... (It is of course quite reasonable for Mr Artist to feel anguish and regret about unintended consequences of his actions, regardless of any blame that may attach to them from a moral point of view.)
