So far I&#8217;ve done only some Soviet watches of the Big Three, and this was rather different in some ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"1004\" src=\"https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4335-1024x1004.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1831\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4335.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4335-300x294.jpg 300w, https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4335-768x753.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This watch was my father&#8217;s originally, I wore it in my early teens until the keyless works got busted in a bicycle accident and the watchmaker declared it unrepairable, after which it lay in a drawer for 35 years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The crown on this watch stuck out a bit more than it should, making it more vulnerable to impacts I guess. I think this was the result of an earlier shoddy repair job by the same watchmaker&#8230; This is the winding setting:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4336-768x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1832\" srcset=\"https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4336.jpg 768w, https:\/\/truefork.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/DSCN4336-225x300.jpg 225w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 768px) 100vw, 768px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ideally I should shorten the stem but it seems stuck on solid, and if I break the stem I&#8217;d also need to find a replacement crown. It&#8217;s probably epoxied on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I took apart the movement, saw nothing wrong, reassembled it and took it apart again before I identified the issue: the stem hole in the base plate was deformed, so the stem would go in up to its square section and become blocked. That was new to me.
