These are two different techniques.
The first one is fairly self-evident.
Points of attention:
- This works best against an attack to the first opening.
- Lift the left hand under his strike to avoid him stabbing the arm.
- It helps to catch him a little up the forearm, so his dagger can't put pressure exactly on your wrist.
- As you see, I move off to the left to avoid what the plate shows; the attacker displacing the thrust with the left hand.
The next technique is a bit unclear, in that the attacker's hand seems drawn the wrong way for the attack from above described in the text. The completion is also much easier if the defender's hand is opposite from what is drawn.
Points of attention:
- Lift your right arm strongly, then bring it down as if over his head, while pushing his hand behind his back.
- I find it easier to move to the side first, then enter between the attacker's feet (as on the drawing) while bringing down the opponent.
